What HotelManga Is
HotelManga is an independent travel and lifestyle magazine built for one specific reader: the person who plans their Japan trip around the hotels, the pilgrimages, and the places that manga and anime made real. Not the casual tourist who happens to like anime. The traveler who wants to sleep inside the ryokan that inspired Spirited Away, or stay in the hotel room that faces a life-size Godzilla head, or book a capsule in the manga library where the bed is inside the bookshelf.
We cover every category of anime-adjacent accommodation in Japan — from luxury ryokan with Higurashi connections to budget manga kissa with unlimited drinks and a free lounge. Every hotel we feature has been researched from multiple primary sources: the property's official site, Booking.com, Agoda, Rakuten Travel, TripAdvisor, and Japanese platforms including Jalan. We do not publish entries we cannot verify.

Every hotel guide on HotelManga is built from a standard research process: general search for current information, TripAdvisor for guest experience, Agoda and Booking.com for pricing and policies, Jalan or Rakuten Travel for Japanese-language detail unavailable in English, and the property's own official website for amenities and booking. Where information conflicts between sources, we note it. Where we cannot verify a claim, we don't make it.
Our six stay categories — Manga Sleepover, Character-Themed, Capsule/Cyberpunk, Anime Pilgrimage, Otaku Districts, and Manga Kissa — are defined by experience rather than marketing. A hotel earns its category by what it actually offers, not by what it calls itself. Some hotels appear in multiple categories because they genuinely qualify for more than one.
